Digging at the Dinosaur Place

DISCLAIMER: Much like Southwick’s Zoo prior, do not let the 4 Sneaker length turn you away. This adventure has many twists and turns and resting benches along the way. There are a plethora of information boxes to increase your knowledge and interact.

These are not paved paths, but very well packed dirt/crushed fine rock. Very easy for rollators to travel.

Dinosaurs ? In Connecticut ! ? It’s more likely than you think ! We have ventured into the land of Connecticut, because we could not say no to an entire park dedicated to the dinosaurs. Do not shy away from the size of this prehistoric adventure. We wandered about for 3 hours and could have actually done more. We recommend this to all ages and in all seasons. There’s a water park for the kids in the summer, a pumpkin festival going on right now and in a few short weeks a spooktacular event. The entire walk features “learning boxes.” Our curiosity found us stopping at every box and learning something new each time. They not only feature Triassic sized education, but also the teaching extends to the native plants growing in the park. It was a day long learning curve. Truly a T-Rex tall delight on every path. You will need your walking feet and brains in gear for this trip to the stone age !

These are the learning boxes you can interact with. They are scattered all throughout the park. There are plenty of tidbits of information and visual examples. You are sure to learn something new every time, at every box !

Did you have as much fun as we did ? Let me guess- you’re already in your car with GPS leading you to visit the Dinosaurs ? A TriceraTOPs choice ! A perfect time of the year for this trek to the past ! And remember: Don’t feed the Dinosaurs ! Have a wonderful time ! See you next week !
