Foster Old Home Days

Welcome to an old fashioned country faire ! This happens once a year, so you can plan for next year ! We were intrigued by the opportunity to walk through a 4H experience. This country faire held all of the exhibits you might expect to see and more. We were so impressed with it all, we were returned for day two. Keep an eye on the last weekend of July and plan a full day of family fun.

The terrain was quite easy to walk, a very typical faire ground. Navigating it with a rollator walker no problem. It was a large faire ground, but by pacing slowly and stopping at so many exhibits, the distance was easily accomplished.

Our first stop was the youth competing to show their abilities with their horses. They train all year for this day. Each competitor was amazing. I personally would not want to be a judge because they all were great.

These sheep trainers start young. The love for their animals is very apparent. Watching them from the youngest to the oldest showed how hard they worked and even though we did not personally know any of the participants, we were so proud of everyone.

So, there you have it ! We spent two days here. Totally worth every minute and every step. We will return next year ! The history of the 4H and old farm days is a treasured memory. This one was in Foster, Rhode Island. We encourage you to explore your own state for their 4H clubs and country fairs. Bring the kids, bring the grandparents, oh, heck, bring the whole neighborhood while you’re at it !
